چکیده

The problem of laminar to turbulent transition in a boundary layer flow subjected an adverse pressure gradient is relevant many engineering applications. Under such conditions, the initially within can undergo separation and then become upon reattachment, as triggered by instabilities separated shear layer. In turbomachinery blades with high loading, mechanism further complicated presence periodic wake disturbances shed that move relatively upstream flow. paper reports experimental study effect generated on development over flat plate imposed typical highly loaded front-stage compressor blade. Detailed velocity measurements using hotwire are performed along results analysed both time domain frequency domain. LES of the adverse-pressure gradient turbulent boundary layer

We describe large-eddy simulations (LES) of the flat-plate turbulent boundary layer in the presence of an adverse pressure gradient. The stretched-vortex subgrid-scale model is used in the domain of the flow coupled to a wall model that explicitly accounts for the presence of a finite pressure gradient. The LES are designed to match recent experiments conducted at the University of Melbourne wi...

Influences of Large-scale Structures on Skin Friction in an Adverse Pressure Gradient Turbulent Boundary Layer

Direct numerical simulation (DNS) of a turbulent boundary layer (TBL) subjected to adverse pressure gradient (APG) at Reτ = 834 is performed to investigate large-scale influences on vortical motions. For comparison, DNS data of a zero pressure gradient (ZPG) TBL at Reτ = 837 is analyzed. The spanwise energy spectra of the streamwise velocity fluctuations show that the large-scale energy above 4...

Constant adverse pressure gradient turbulent boundary layers

Significant progress has been made towards understanding the large scale features of wall-bounded shear flow in zero pressure gradient (ZPG) turbulent boundary layers (TBL). Here we consider their effects in adverse pressure gradient (APG) flows where the pressure gradient parameter is held constant and Reynolds number is varied. This is done by documenting the changes in the mean velocity, str...

Iterative Solutions to the Steady-state Axisymmetric Boundary-layer Equations under an Intense Pressure Gradient

Steady-state solutions to the complete axisymmetric Navier-Stokes equations are obtained by an iterative technique for an intense pressure-gradient force representative of the tropical cyclone. Solutions for the horizontal and vertical components of motion are compared for various horizontal and vertical mixing coefficients, drag coefficients, and Coriolis parameters. A multilevel model is used...

Structure of the zero-pressure-gradient turbulent boundary layer.

A processing of recent experimental data by Nagib and Hites [Nagib, H. & Hites, M. (1995) AIAA paper 95-0786, Reno, NV) shows that the flow in a zero-pressure-gradient turbulent boundary layer, outside the viscous sublayer, consists of two self-similar regions, each described by a scaling law. The results concerning the Reynolds-number dependence of the coefficients of the wall-region scaling l...
